Ideas Fund Short 2012 Winner! “The Blood of a Bear”

I am really excited to announce that I am to receive £5000 funding from Ideastap’s short film fund to make ”The Blood of a Bear”!

My short animation is going to be one of the eight short films that get made with the help from the Ideas Fund Short 2012, including one from the seriously-talented Mr Tom Gran, a fellow UWE Animationer. It’s going to be great, I can feel it in my bones.

I can’t believe my luck; Ideastap have been very good to me and I can’t be more grateful.

I will have work showed at Aniscape next last weekend (tense issues)

Once again my poor time-travelling has served me ill. I need to keep track of dates better but “Forget Me Not” and “I Just Wondered Why” were screened in the background of Aniscape, a first time animation festival in Leicester last weekend. It all sounded like great fun with screenings of The Iron Giant and The Illusionist- a miracle of modern engineering- and I’m sad to have missed it. Let’s hope for a next year!

Thanks a lot, Aniscape!

Sky Arts Ignition: Creative Wish (I wished for money obviously)

The other week I went along to the Bath LitFest as one of the three artists on display in the Sky Arts Den. Visitors to the festival could vote for one of us to receive £1000 funding towards our art work and I have been informed that with 764 votes I’m the lucky lady. Thanks to everyone who put a button in my jar, the seed you planted will soon grow and blossom into a film called The Blood of a Bear. Soonish.

Bit late but…

“Forget Me Not” and “I Just Wondered Why” will both be screening in about -2 hours at BocaBar, Bristol as part of the CineMe 3 Animation Night.

So if you’re capable of time travel then get down there 2 hours ago and pick me up on the way.

Sky Arts Den, Bath Central Library – Put a button in my jar!

Yesterday I visited the lovely Sky Arts Den in Bath. This has been set up as part of the Bath Literature Festival occupying a corner of the library and offering all sorts of free creative workshops and free performances. We were lucky enough to catch the end of a performance by Hip Hop Shakespeare, an inspiring act of rhythmic poetry, nothing like anything I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, I also had to speak in front of people in some kind of arty campaign speech, without props and without notes. Not my forte…

Sky Arts has offered one South West artist a bursary of £1000 to develop their work. I am one of the three artists on display in the Sky Arts Den and it’s up to the public to vote for their favourite by putting a button in the jar next to their work.

So if you’re heading into Bath this week, please take a gander at my work (displayed in part on an iPad, oooh!) and pop a voting button in my grateful jar! THANKS!

Website-In-Progress

I’m teaching myself Dreamweaver – or getting “Internet” to teach me, so I thought I’d make a website. I want to make things animate but we’ll see.
